Based on the results of SBI investigation, a traitor law enforcer from Berdiansk, who was hiding from justice in Cherkasy region, will be brought to court

Employees of the SBI completed a pre-trial investigation against a traitor from the temporarily occupied Berdiansk. The former law enforcement officer willingly defected to the enemy.

The indictment was sent to court.

It has been established that after the russian invasion, the former law enforcement officer betrayed his oath and started working for the aggressors in Berdiansk. The defendant passed information about Ukrainian law enforcement officers to the occupation authorities, conducted searches, and seized weapons. He also gave the invaders official vehicles and agitated local residents to help the occupation administration.

After a successful offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, he secretly arrived in the government-controlled territory of Ukraine and stayed in a village in Cherkasy region.

SBI officers established the traitor's whereabouts and detained him in February 2023 jointly with the National Police.

The former law enforcement officer is charged with high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He is currently in custody in a pre-trial detention centre.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the proceedings.

As a reminder, three traitors from Kherson region who detained and held patriots will be tried under the SBI materials.
