The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, have completed a pre-trial investigation against the law enforcement officer from Sumy region, who had been involved in the illegal sale of ammunition and the transfer of data about the location of military units.

The indictment was sent to the court.

According to the investigation, in September and December 2024, the suspect sold 480 rounds of ammunition and three F-1 grenades to a local resident for UAH 20 thousand. The buyer planned to use the ammunition for “self-defense”, when he would sell consumer goods and smuggled goods across the border with russia.

The law enforcement officer also offered his assistance in the movement of goods: he provided border patrol routes, the location of the Armed Forces units and “safe” places to cross the state border. He advised to use drones and, in case of interception, gave passwords for identification to the soldiers.

The criminal was detained when he was transferring UAH 40 thousand for marking certain positions of border patrols and unblocked border areas on the map.

The defendant is accused of selling ammunition (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), disseminating information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations (Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), receiving illegal benefits (Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanctions of the articles provide for imprisonment for up to 8 years.

Procedural guidance is provided by the Sumy Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office.
