The SBI agents have completed a pre-trial investigation into a law enforcement officer from Sumy region who was planning to sell data on the location of Ukrainian checkpoints and military units, as well as passwords at checkpoints.

The indictment was sent to court.

It was found that the offender had access to such classified data and wanted to "help" smugglers to transport cigarettes to russia unhindered. In the course of "cooperation", the defendant began collecting data such as passwords, location of the Ukrainian military, including the command staff, possible presence of thermal imagers in the units, and other information.

He priced his services at 40 thousand hryvnias. According to the investigation, the purchase could have been orchestrated by enemy intelligence services. Such information could have been passed on to russian secret services, which frequently "cover up" smuggling. This could affect our nation's defensive capability.

In February, the SBI, in cooperation with the internal security of the State Border Guard Service and the Security Service of Ukraine, prevented a possible leak of classified data. During a special operation, a law enforcement officer was detained while receiving money.

He is accused of unauthorized dissemination of information on weapons and deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and obtaining illegal benefit (Part 2 of Art. 114-2 and Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of property.

The court has already imposed a custody without bail as a measure of restraint on the offender.

Procedural supervision is provided by the Sumy Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Central Region.
