Based on SBI materials, the organiser of failed sabotage at Kurakhivska TPP will face trial

Agents of the SBI has completed a special pre-trial investigation into a former law enforcement officer who held a position in the occupation police of Mariupol and was preparing a sabotage at Kurakhivska TPP.

The indictment was sent to court.

After the occupation of Mariupol, the defendant went to serve the occupiers, conducting filtration procedures at one of the checkpoints, looking for patriotic citizens, Ukrainian law enforcement officers and military personnel who remained under occupation.

At the end of 2022, SBI employees found that the former law enforcer and his accomplice were preparing a subversion at the Kurakhivska TPP.

The man had hidden explosive devices, ammunition and means of initiating the explosion in a specially equipped cache near the TPP. According to the plan, an accomplice of the former law enforcement officer would carry out the explosion at the "facility".

The SBI employees identified the cache and prevented the terrorist attack.

The former law enforcement officer is accused of high treason and preparation of sabotage (Article 111(2), Article 14(1), Article 113(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment.

The case of his accomplice is being investigated in a separate criminal proceeding.

Procedural supervision is carried out by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
