Based on the SBI materials, an accomplice of an fss agent who facilitated enemy plans in Odesa will be brought to court
The SBI has completed a pre-trial investigation into a pro-russian supporter who, in the summer of 2022, together with other criminals led by an fss (federal security service) agent, tried to kidnap a patriotic Odesa businessman.
He helped set up the man's basement for torture to make him 'agree' to give up all his property and money. They told their fss superiors that they were doing this to destabilise the situation in the city and to exchange the Ukrainian patriot for russian prisoners after the aggressor's troops took Odessa.
The perpetrator also helped to plant the flag of the russian federation with the inscription: "Odesa is a russian city" on a residential building in the city on 22 August 2022. In particular, as a result of his actions, the photograph of the russian flag was given to representatives of the aggressor state for use by propaganda media to justify aggression against Ukraine.
Thus, the perpetrator is charged with collaboration (Part 6 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and kidnapping (Part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
These articles carry a penalty of up to 12 years' imprisonment and confiscation of property.
The SBI conducted a special operation to arrest the fss agent and his accomplices in late September 2022. For the kidnapping, the criminals disguised themselves in military uniforms and hired assistants who were actually "played" by law enforcement officers as part of a carefully planned special operation.
The court found the fss agent guilty of treason, collaboration and kidnapping. He will spend 15 years in prison.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office is handling the case.
