At the initiative of the SBI, 23 tons of russian auto parts, which were seized during the investigation, were transferred to the needs of the defense forces of Ukraine
At the initiative of the SBI, 23 tons of auto parts of the russian concern «GAZ» worth about UAH 5.7 million were transferred to one of the military units of the National Guard of Ukraine.
In August 2023, the SBI employees, together with the Kyiv Customs of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, prevented the import of those auto parts into the territory of Ukraine.
In order to circumvent the sanctions, the representatives of the aggressor country were planning to supply smuggled products to our country through the third countries. Firstly, the goods had been registered to belarusian intermediary companies, then were sent to the European companies that were allegedly officially exporting products to Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers exposed the deal during an attempt of clearance of the goods at the Kyiv Customs in August 2023. During the verification of the accompanying documents, it was established that the spare parts were supplied under a contract with payments in russian rubles. The final recipient of the funds is a commercial entity whose bank account is opened in the aggressor country.
Russian-made goods were seized as a part of the criminal proceeding on the fact of aiding and abetting the aggressor country (Part 2 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
From now on, they will be used by the Ukrainian military for their intended purpose.
The sanction of the Article provides for imprisonment for up to 7 years.
The investigation is continuing.
Procedural guidance is provided by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
