A former law enforcement officer from Kharkiv has been detained on suspicion of high treason


The SBI employees exposed a former law enforcement officer who voluntarily began cooperating with representatives of the aggressor's military formations in March.

In the occupied village of Shevchenkove, Kup'yanskyi District, he agitated Ukrainian citizens to join the forces of the so-called "local occupation police". He also assisted russian military in recovering and repairing their equipment.

In a short time, he returned to the controlled territory of Ukraine and began hiding in the Kharkiv region’s villages.

In one of these villages, he was detained.

The law enforcement officer was notified of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office provides procedural guidance in criminal proceedings.
