The soldier, who shot soldiers of the National Guard at the Southern Machine-Building Factory in 2022, received life imprisonment

According to the materials of the SBI, the Krasnogvardіyskіy District Court of the city of Dnipro sentenced a conscript to life imprisonment, who in January 2022 committed a shooting at the Southern Machine-Building Factory. As a result, 5 people died, among them one civilian, another 5 - received injuries of varying severity.

In the court, the convict fully admitted his guilt, repented and asked for forgiveness from the relatives of the victims.

It was established, that during military service the convict had a conflict with other soldiers. Several times he witnessed quarrels, about which he reported to the leadership.

Because of this, other militaries formed a negative attitude towards him. After another verbal argument, he decided to kill those who did not share his thoughts and views. While he was in the weapons storage room, he took machine gun and ammunitions for firearms and began to cruel shoot people.

After the massacre, the accused took away the machine gun with 200 cartridges and tried to escape. A few hours later he was detained in the city of Pidgorodniе, Dnipro district.

Within the framework of criminal proceeding, dozens of expertise had been conducted, including an inpatient complex psychological and psychiatric expertise, which established that the soldier did not have any mental disorders and acted completely consciously.

Thus, the court found him guilty of:

illegal handling of weapons, namely carrying and storing firearms, military supplies without permission provided by the law (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);

violation of the statutory rules of relations between military personnel in the absence of relations of subordination, committed in relation to several persons, with the use of weapons, entailed grave consequences (Part 3 of Article 406 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);

desertion (Part 3 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);

theft of weapons, military supplies, other military property by the servicemancommitted under conditions of a special period, except for martial law (Part 3 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);

violation of the statutory rules of the guard service, which entailed grave consequences, for the prevention of which this guard was appointed, committed in conditions of a special period, except for martial law (Part 2 of Article 418 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);

the attempted intentional murder of two or more persons, a person in connection with the performance of his official duty, as well as in order to conceal another crime or facilitate its commission (Part 2 of Article 15, Paragraphs 1, 8, 9 Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);

intentional murder (Paragraphs 1, 8, 9 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The punishment was imposed in the form of life imprisonment, and the convict is obliged to compensate the civil claims of the relatives of the victims.

The pre-trial investigation against the leadership of the military unit in which the convict served is currently at the final stage.
