The woman, who was trying to give a bribe to the SBI investigator, was detained in Rivne
The employees of the SBI have detained the woman, who was trying to give a bribe to the investigator of the Regional Department of the SBI in Khmelnitsky for the closure of criminal proceedings.
At the end of June 2024, she contacted the investigator of the SBI stationed in Rivne and asked him for a meeting. She said that she was representing four people who appeared in various criminal proceedings for desertion.
The woman wanted to provide the investigator with medical documents confirming that her "clients" were receiving treatment and did not violate the statute. However, instead of it, during the meeting, the woman offered the money. For 12,000 USD, the investigator was supposed to close the cases and, accordingly, not to bring the figurants to the justice.
The investigator immediately informed his direction about this offer. On July 30, 2024, the woman was caught red-handed while she was trying to give the first part of the bribe in the amount of 8,000 USD.
The pre-trial investigation continues.
According to operative information, the woman and her accomplices were trying to establish a whole business that would help men to evade military service, including through forgery of medical documents.
Information about other possible attempts to do the similar schemes is being checked.
Currently, the woman has been served a notification of suspicion of offering and providing an official in a responsible position with an improper advantage for the commission and non-commission by an official in the interests of third parties of any action using the power or official position granted to her, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.
The sanction of the Article provides for imprisonment for up to 8 years with confiscation of property.
The procedural guidance is provided by the Western Region Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of the Defense.
