In Rivne, the SBI notified a law enforcement officer of suspicion for kiling a man while trying to rob a cash exchange

The employees of the Regional Department located in the city of Khmelnytskyi notified a law enforcement officer of suspicion for an attempt to rob a cash point in one of the shopping centers in Rivne and a murder of a man.

On July 19, 2022, at about 10:40 a.m., during a robbery attempt, the law enforcer used a service weapon. The perpetrator took the cashier of the store hostage and threatened to kill her if she wouldn't comply with his demands.

A passer-by man interfered the conflict and tried to detain the criminal by himself.
entered the room and tried to arrest the perpetrator by himself. The law enforcer hit the man's head with the handle of his gun three times and then shot him two times. The victim died at the scene of the incident.

A law enforcement officer left the scene of the crime, but was arrested two hours later. The matter is under discussion as to whether he should be given a restraining order and be suspended from his position.

According to previous information, the attacker decided to commit robbery because of his debts. He admits his guilt in part.

Law enforcement officer is suspected in an intentional homicide based on mercenary motives and robbery, aimed at the possession of the property on a large or particularly large scale, committed under martial law (paragraph 6 of Part 2 of Article 115, Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of up to 15 years or permanent deprivation of liberty.
