In 2026 the SBI sent to the court 387 indictments against 530 individuals for corruption offenses

The State Bureau of Investigation actively combats corruption and abuse of power by public officials, particularly offenses that cause losses to the state and undermine its defense capabilities. This work is one of the priorities outlined in the Strategic Development Program of the SBI.

In the first seven months of 2026, the employees of the SBI sent to the court 387 indictments against 530 individuals accused of criminal corruption offenses.

Among the defendants are 284 employees of law enforcement and other government agencies, including:

• 40 employees of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine;
• 25 employees of the State Customs Service of Ukraine;
• 24 employees of the State Forest Protection Service;
• 23 employees of civil protection agencies and units;
• 12 employees of the State Tax Service of Ukraine;
• and others.

An indictment against a Member of the Parliament of Ukraine has also been sent to the court.

In corruption cases, the SBI has determined that the state suffered losses totaling more than UAH 377 million. To ensure compensation for these losses, assets of the suspects valued at more than UAH 465 million have been seized.

Lawsuits have also been filed seeking compensation of more than UAH 248 million.

The total amount of improper benefits identified as having been provided to or received by officials in the cases under investigation exceeds UAH 31 million.

The Bureau pays particular attention to analyzing the financial transactions, income, and assets of officials and their associates.

As of August 1, 2026, the SBI had forwarded 15 case files to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office regarding identified unjustified assets totaling UAH 82 million. Based on these case files, prosecutors have already filed two lawsuits.

In total, this year, prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, based on materials of the SBI, filed 13 lawsuits for the recognition of assets as unjustified, totaling more than UAH 60 million. These assets will also be recovered into State revenue.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, based on materials of the SBI, prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have filed 39 lawsuits for the recognition of assets as unjustified and to recover nearly UAH 200 million into the State revenue.

The court of first instance granted 21 of these lawsuits, totaling UAH 107 million.
