SBI agents have completed a special pre-trial investigation into a law enforcement officer from Vovchansk, Chuhuiv district, Kharkiv region. He sided with the enemy during the war.

The indictment has been sent to court.

It was established that after the occupation of part of the territory of the Kharkiv region, he took up the post of "Deputy Head of Police Department No. 3" in Vovchansk. He organised the collection of weapons from hunters, as the occupiers feared resistance from the local population. He also betrayed law enforcement officers who had not betrayed their oath to their Russian masters, and searched the local population for "unreliable" people.

After the liberation of the town, the traitor fled to Russia.

He is charged with an offence under Part 2 of Article 111 (High Treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces life imprisonment.

The Prosecutor General's Office is providing procedural guidance.
