Former Kharkiv law enforcement officer who 'gave' his wife cafe to occupants will stand trial
SBI officers completed a pre-trial investigation against a former law enforcement officer who held a senior position in Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region. In an attempt to curry favor with the occupiers, the traitor gave his wife's cafe for use.
The indictment was sent to court.
After the occupation of the village of Velykyi Burluk, the law enforcement officer immediately went to negotiate with the "new" authorities. He even offered to give them the use of his wife's cafe and company car.
The man actively encouraged his colleagues to defect to the enemy, claiming that they would be able to study at russian universities and eventually be promoted to officer ranks.
But all his efforts were in vain - he never received the position. Moreover, after the de-occupation of the village, the former law enforcer did not manage to escape and was detained by the SBI.
He is accused of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural supervision.
Earlier, the SBI had already completed an investigation into the head of the occupation police department in Kupiansk.
