Maidan cases: the proceeding against the former police chief of Cherkassy has been referred to the court

The employees of the SBI have completed the pre-trial investigation against the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region who was involved in the dispersal of the protesters during the Revolution of Dignity.

The indictment was sent to the court.

It was established, that on February 20th, 2014, he ordered to forcibly disperse the protesters who were near the "Cherkasy" memorial sign, which is in front of the entrance to the dam in the regional center.

At that time 10 people were injured and 5 vehicles were damaged.

According to this episode, the former head of the police is accused of illegally obstructing the organization, holding of meetings, rallies, marches and demonstrations, as well as of abuse of power or official powers by a law enforcement officer (Part 2 of Article 28, Article 340, Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, he is in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, where he holds a position in the illegal law enforcement agency of the occupiers. Another law enforcement agency is investigating the treason case against the former policeman.

Also, the criminal proceeding against four former heads of the law enforcement units, who carried out the criminal order of this regional police chief, is in the final stage.
