The fatal traffic accident in Ivano-Frankivsk region involving a judge: the SBI served a notification of suspicion to the figurehead

The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation opened criminal proceedings into a traffic accident involving a district court judge of the Ternopil region. A man was killed in the accident.

According to preliminary information, on the evening of October 31, 2025, in one of the settlements of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, a judge driving a car “Lexus” hit two pedestrians who were crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. One of the victims died at the scene, and the other suffered minor injuries.

The employees of the SBI immediately arrived at the scene of the accident. They inspected the scene, seized the car and material evidence, and questioned witnesses. The blood samples were taken from the judge for toxicological examination.

The criminal proceeding was initiated on the signs of the crime provided by Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules resulting in death.

The article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment.

The suspect has been served a notification of suspicion. A motion has already been filed with the High Council of Prosecutors to grant permission to detain the suspect.
