Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed an investigation against two former People’s Deputies of Ukraine
On May 10, 2022, an indictment was filed against Illia Kiva. He is accused of high treason, propaganda of war, trespass on territorial integrity, calls for the seizure of state power and the spread of communist symbols.
In particular, SBI investigators established that the former deputy in Russia took part in one of the propaganda shows on Russian television. Illia Kiva publicly called on Russia's top leadership to forcibly change the constitutional order and seize state power in Ukraine. He proposed to physically remove the President of Ukraine and other high-ranking state officials and also publicly called for an aggressive war on the territory of our country. Earlier, the investigating judge granted permission for a special (in absentia) pre-trial investigation.
At the initiative of the State Bureau of Investigation investigators, former People's Deputy Illia Kiva has been declared internationally wanted.
The accused faces imprisonment for up to 15 years with confiscation of property.
In addition, an indictment was filed against the former People's Deputy of Ukraine of the VIII convocation from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko fraction. He fraudulently embezzled the businessman's funds in the amount of USD 17 thousand.
As a freelance adviser to the head of the State Environmental Inspectorate, the ex-deputy promised the representative of the agricultural enterprise assistance in obtaining a positive opinion on the environmental impact assessment of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. He asked for USD 17 thousand for his services.
During the first transfer, the former MP received USD 2 thousand.
SBI investigators detained the perpetrator while receiving the second part – USD 15 thousand.
Qualification of the offence: fraud committed on a large scale (Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years.
