People's Deputy, who went on holiday to the Maldives during the war, was served a notice of suspicion (VIDEO)

On 27 July, following an investigation by the SBI and the State Security Service (SBU), the Prosecutor General's Office issued a notice to the MP on suspicion of knowingly making false statements in official documents (Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

SBI officers found that the MP had knowingly entered false information in official documents about the length of his stay abroad, the purpose of his business trip, the country of his stay and the time of his return to Ukraine.

This was done so that the MP and his family could go on holiday to a hotel in the Maldives.

As a reminder, the SBI is investigating the legality of the MP's trip to the Maldives during the war.

On 25 July 2023, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, on the basis of the materials of the State Bureau of Investigation and information disseminated in the media, opened a criminal case on the introduction of false information in documents for travel abroad by the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence.

As part of the investigation, the Bureau's investigators are looking into how the MP managed to go on holiday to the Maldives despite the ban on officials travelling abroad.

In particular, the circumstances in which he knowingly made false statements in official documents about his departure, namely the duration, purpose and countries of business trips, are being investigated.

It was established that in mid-July 2023, the MP stayed in a hotel on the private island of Ithaafushi in the Maldives.

Thus, the investigation confirmed that he was outside Ukraine between 05 June and 22 July 2023. The MP travelled to Poland for three days on a business trip to deepen bilateral cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.

On 10 July 2023, while abroad, the MP remotely opened a sick leave in one of the private medical institutions in Kiev until 19 July 2023 inclusive. At the same time, inaccurate information was probably entered into the electronic health system, as no medical examination was actually carried out.

It was also established that the MP and his family - his wife and children - were staying in the territory of the Republic of Maldives, in the Waldorf Astoria Maldives hotel complex, until 22 July.
