The director of one of the state enterprises of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, who demanded a bribe of USD 60 thousand, will stand trial
The SBI investigators have completed a pre-trial investigation into the director of a state-owned enterprise of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The latter demanded a bribe of USD 60 thousand from an entrepreneur.
The indictment has been submitted to the court.
The official demanded a bribe from a private entrepreneur for the opportunity to change the purpose of land use of two of his land plots with a total area of four hectares for construction.
The director promised not to create artificial obstacles and to issue the entrepreneur an act of writing off the agricultural storage, which was on the balance sheet of the state enterprise and located on one of the stated land plots.
On November 18, 2021, the SBI employees detained the director of the State Enterprise after receiving the most illegal advantage, totalling USD 50 thousand.
The director is accused of extortion, which caused property damage in especially gross amount (Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years with confiscation of property.
