People's deputy Oleksiy Kovalov is notified of suspicion of high  treason and aiding and abetting the aggressor state (VIDEO)

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine based on the evidence collected by the State Bureau of Investigation notified a people's deputy of Ukraine Oleksiy Kovalov of the suspicion,

Officials of the State Bureau of Investigation opened criminal proceedings against the people's deputy of Ukraine, who after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, stays on the permanently occupied territory of the Kherson region and assists the occupying army.

In the course of the investigation, it was established that at the beginning of July Oleksiy Kovalov occupied the position of deputy head of the illegally created by the occupation administration of the aggressor state - "the government of the Kherson region".

Also on June 8, 2022, the deputy posted a statement on his page on the social network about the alleged integration of a part of Ukraine into the aggressor country to influence and manipulate public opinion.

The actions of the suspect fall under  Part 2 Article. 111 (treason under martial law), Part 1 of Article 111-2 (aiding and abetting the aggressor state) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for which the sentence is imprisonment for a term of 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
