The SBI employees have notified in absentia law enforcement officers who decided to "serve" russian occupation troops of suspicion of high treason.

The investigation revealed that one of them, as a reward for his cooperation with the russian federation, took over the leadership of the so-called "people's militia" formed by the enemy in the Melitopol district.

The newly-minted "head" organizes illegal activities and has persuaded other ex-servicemen to collaborate with the enemy.

Bureau employees also notified two law enforcement officers from Berdyansk of suspicion of treason and defecting to the occupіers.

They voluntarily entered the punitive authorities in the temporarily occupied territories.

Law enforcement officers are suspected of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The Zaporizhzhia Region Prosecutor’s Office provides procedural guidance in those criminal proceedings.

The State Bureau of Investigation again emphasizes and warns all officials and law enforcement officers against cooperating with the russian occupation forces. Severe punishment for such crimes is inevitable.

The short-term benefits of serving the occupiers will be shameful and prolonged imprisonment.
