In Odesa region, the SBI has exposed an official of the State Migration Service of Ukraine who wanted to enrich himself on evaders of military service and even made up his own wish lists

The employees of the SBI in cooperation with the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine have exposed an official of one of the departments of the Main Directorate of the State Migration Service in the Odessa region who was trying to organize a scheme of earnings on evaders of military service.

In July 2024, the acting head of the Department of the State Migration Service of Ukraine began negotiations with the border guard to help him smuggling men liable for military service to the Republic of Moldova. He was supposed to help clients to bypass the checkpoint. But, the man immediately reported about the illegal proposal to the management and informed the law enforcement officers.

The official of the State Migration Service of Ukraine was searching through social media for those who were wishing to leave illegally the country and asked them for USD 10,000 per person for his service. He made a deal with three clients and took USD 30,000 from them. USD 9,000 he brought to the border guard.

In anticipation of easy money, the suspect made up his own wish where he desired wealth and was expecting that money would come into his life.

However, on July 23, 2024, the law enforcement officers detained the official during the transfer of the agreed amount.

Three men liable for military service were handed over to border guards for further compilation of the administrative protocols.

During the searches, more than USD 20,000 were found in the official's possession.

He was served notification of suspicion of the organization of Illegal movement of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The issue of choosing a measure of restraint to him and dismissing from position is being decided.

The sanction of the Article provides for imprisonment for up to 9 years.
