In Mykolaiv region, the SBI has exposed a network of counterfeit fuel sales worth millions of hryvnias (VIDEO)
The SBI employeers identified an extensive network of petrol stations selling counterfeit fuel in Mykolaiv region.
Eight gas stations were shut down in total, half of them were illegal and lacked a license for dealing in excisable commodities.
During the years 2022-2023, gas stations sold low-quality fuel without an authorization. As a result, they did not pay taxes and mandatory payments to state and municipal institutions.
During the inspections at the petrol stations, SBI officials seized 100 tonnes of fuel worth millions of hryvnias, as well as paperwork confirming the unlawful activities. The source of the fuel is being investigated.
Urgent investigations are currently underway. The scheme's involvement among employees of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Mykolaiv region is being examined.
After examination, the seized fuel will be transferred to the military if it can be used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings on abuse of power and illegal sale of excisable goods (Part 2 Article 364, Part 1 Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the investigation.
