The SBI exposed the large-scale fraud during the purchase of the clothes for the military in Dnipropetrovsk region

The employees of the SBI have served notification of suspicion to the commander of one of the military units of Dnipropetrovsk region and to the Head of the private enterprise, who organized the purchase of low-quality clothing for military personnel for UAH 200 million.

The Head of the military unit entered into an agreement on the purchase of the military clothing with the private enterprise. As the expertise showed, the company was engaged in the resale of low-quality products. Without checking this fact, the commander signed the contract without a tender and with an advance payment of 30% of the total cost of the contract.

After prepayment, the military unit received only part of the high-quality clothing and in the amount of almost 150 million hryvnias clothes were supplied that did not correspond to any quality standards and exposed the defenders to the danger. The leadership of the military unit was realizing the risks but still signed the necessary documents and made full payment for low-quality goods.

During the searches, the cash was seized from the soldier and the entrepreneur.

The commander was served notification of suspicion of negligence of service, if it caused grave consequences, committed under martial law or in the combat situation (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the Article provides for imprisonment for up to 8 years.

The Head of the private enterprise is suspected of fraud committed under martial law, on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the Article provides for imprisonment for up to 12 years.

The issue of choosing a measure of restraint in the form of detention to the suspects is being decided.
