Collaborators will be punished: the SBI reported suspicion of treason to an ex-law enforcer, an indictment against another traitor was sent to court

The SBI employees are actively working to identify and prosecute former officers of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies who defected to the enemy side after the start of the war against Ukraine. Thanks to such work, two more ex-law enforcers will be held accountable, who, instead of protecting Ukraine, voluntarily gave up their weapons to the invaders.

The Bureau workers completed a special pre-trial investigation into the law enforcement officer of the Mykolaiv region, who collected weapons from colleagues and transferred them to the military groups of the aggressor country. The indictment was sent to court.

It was established that in March, during the occupation of the city of Snigurovka, Mykolaiv region, this person, instead of defending the city from the invaders, drove around the colleagues’ homes and took away their weapons with ammunition, which he then handed over to the enemy.

Now the man is hiding from justice on the temporarily occupied territory.

In another case, the SBI reported suspicion to a former employee of the Bashtansky district, who gave the occupiers a service gun with ammunition.

In such a way, he expected to obtain from the invaders a position in the "governing bodies."

Former law enforcers are charged with transferring material resources to armed formations of the aggressor state (part 4 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of imprisonment of up to 5 years.

Procedural guidance is carried out by the Mykolaiv  Regional Prosecutor's Office.
