A serviceman, who is suspected of committing a car accident with serious consequences, was extradited to Ukraine
The law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Poland made a decision to extradite to Ukraine the soldier, who had been on the international wanted list for committing the car accident in the Kyiv region. On March 24, 2025, he was handed over to the employees of the SBI on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
In 2023, while driving, the man drove off a secondary road and did not give the right of way to the bus near the village of Stare, Boryspil district, Kyiv region. As the result of the collision, two bus passengers received serious bodily injuries, and the driver received bodily injuries of moderate severity.
To avoid punishment, the suspect illegally crossed the state border of Ukraine into the Republic of Moldova and then traveled to Poland, where he was hiding from justice.
The soldier was put on the international wanted list, and subsequently detained by Polish law enforcement officers.
After the extradition, he was immediately detained, and the court chose him a preventive measure in the form detention.
The man was served notification of suspicion of violation of traffic safety rules, which caused serious bodily injuries to the victims (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the Article provides for imprisonment for up to 8 years.
