The SBI Director signed a memorandum of cooperation with the National Police of Finland

Oleksii Sukhachov, Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, and Seppo Kolehmainen, Commissioner of the Finnish National Police Board, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the State Bureau of Investigation and the Finnish National Police Authority is intended to establish practical cooperation in the field of preventing and combating corruption, organized and cross-border crime, illicit trafficking in drugs, weapons, ammunition, and explosives.

According to the signed document, the priority tasks are the exchange of information, analysis, research and other methods of preventing, detecting, suppressing and investigating criminal offenses.

It is also planned to exchange best practices in investigating crimes and developments in the use of information technology and other tools to combat crime.

During the online meeting, Oleksii Sukhachov and Seppo Kolehmainen agreed on the technical aspects of bilateral cooperation and confirmed their intention to encourage and support direct cooperation.

The SBI and the Finnish police will organize joint training events, exchange of experts and specialists, hold working meetings, conferences and seminars.

Oleksii Sukhachov informed the partners about the functioning of the State Bureau of Investigation under martial law and the participation of the SBI employees in countering russian aggression against Ukraine.

In his turn, the Commissioner of the Finnish National Police Board assured of support for the dialogue on planning and coordination of joint activities and interest in developing the agencies in accordance with the best European law enforcement standards.
