The SBI rigorously counteracts attempts of drug distribution in frontline areas
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations in cooperation with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other law enforcement agencies are carrying out large-scale work to prevent the trafficking of drugs in the frontline areas. In addition, a set of measures is being taken to destroy existing schemes.
Since the beginning of the russian aggression, the SBI and the National Police of Ukraine have launched investigations in more than 270 criminal proceedings on the trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors among the residents of the frontline areas.
The analysis of the proceedings shows that the supply of drugs to the frontline regions is mainly carried out by representatives of criminal groups that produce and sell drugs and have established social connections. During the documentation of criminal activity, signs of involvement and influence of russian special services on criminal groups were detected.
One of the common channels of delivery of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to the areas of hostilities is the use of postal operators.
In August 2022, as a result of joint operations of the State Bureau of Investigations with the National Police of Ukraine and the Military Law Enforcement Service, dozens of facts of criminals receiving narcotic substances through the postal operator were exposed and about 15 kg of various types of drugs were seized.
At the moment, active measures are being taken to identify individual dealers and intermediaries, as well as accomplices in criminal schemes among officials and law enforcement officers.
