The SBI has completed a special investigation into a former law enforcer from Lyman who forced locals to collect the bodies of the dead
The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a special pre-trial investigation into a former law enforcer from Lyman, Donetsk region, who actively assisted the invaders and forced detained citizens to collect the bodies of the dead.
The indictment has been sent to court.
After the start of the russian invasion, the law enforcement officer refused to evacuate the city of Lyman in Donetsk region and cooperated with the occupiers. He was appointed to a position in the so-called "people's police of the donetsk people's republic".
He collected information about Ukrainian law enforcers who remained in the occupied territory and persuaded them to go over to the enemy. He also threatened them with detention if they refused to work for the occupation administration.
On the orders of the occupation authorities, the defendant delivered illegally detained citizens to places of forced labor and forced them to collect the bodies of those killed during hostilities. The man also called entrepreneurs who had left the temporarily occupied Lyman and offered to return to work for the occupiers.
After the city was liberated, the traitor fled with the russians.
The former law enforcement officer is accused of treason and of seizing firearms and ammunition by abuse of office (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 262 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the proceedings.
