State Bureau of Investigations has completed special investigation into Mariupol resident who joined illegal "donetsk people's republic"

04/04/2023

SBI agents have completed a special pre-trial investigation into a former Mariupol police officer who joined the ranks of the " ministry of internal affairs of the donetsk people's republic" after the full-scale invasion. She is now working for the enemy in the temporarily occupied territories.

The indictment has been sent to the court.

The resident of Mariupol joined the enemy armed groups in May 2022, at the very moment when the heroic defence of Azovstal was coming to an end. Eyewitnesses repeatedly saw her at checkpoints wearing a " donetsk people's republic" uniform with a "z" on the chevron.

The woman also conducted "pseudo-surveys" among local residents about their attitudes towards russia and the so-called "liberation", asking about relatives and friends who supported or could support Ukraine. This data was later collected and the persecution of 'dissenting' citizens began.

The former law enforcement officer is accused of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The penalty under this article is life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The Rivne Regional Prosecutor's Office is supervising the proceedings.

The results of the trial will be used in other similar cases in the future. Short-term benefits of cooperation with the enemy will turn into shameful and long imprisonment.
