The SBI has completed its investigation into the Berdiansk-based head of the fishery protection patrol, who handed over the agency's fleet to the occupiers

The SBI agents have completed a special pre-trial investigation of an inspector of the Azov Basin Department of the State Agency for Land Reclamation and Fisheries of Ukraine. He was the head of the department at the outbreak of the war.

The indictment was sent to the court.

The man voluntarily defected to the enemy from the beginning of the temporary occupation of Berdiansk and consistently persuaded his colleagues to do the same. He assisted the occupation authorities in the establishment of the occupation structure "department of environmental protection and natural resources of the berdiansk city administration," which he led.

The traitor also handed over the department's fleet to the aggressors for use, provided information on the location of military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and "shone" in the materials of the propaganda media.

Taking advantage of the situation, the defendant confiscated the catch of local fishermen and handed it over to the occupying forces. He is still acting on the enemy's orders and using water resources belonging to the Ukrainian people for their benefit.

The former law enforcement officer is accused of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The penalty under this article is 15 years' imprisonment or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The case is being prosecuted by the Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
