The SBI has completed investigation regarding law enforcement officer from Donetsk region who defected to the enemy side

Identification and recording of facts of state treason are one of the priority areas of the State Bureau of Investigation. Documentation of these crimes committed during the war with russia will help to bring the perpetrators to justice in the future.

The SBI employees completed a pre-trial investigation against a former law enforcement officer from the Donetsk region, who stayed in the temporarily occupied territories and started cooperating with the occupiers. The indictment was sent to court.

It was established that at the end of March the man not only decided not to leave the occupied territories, violating the order of the authorities but also voluntarily joined the ranks of the occupants' forces formations.

The former law enforcer was on duty for the occupation authorities to check vehicles in the Donetsk region.

He is charged with high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The procedural guidance of the pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office.
