SBI completed investigation into customs officers from Dnipro region who caused almost UAH 50 million in losses to the state
SBI officers have completed a pre-trial investigation into three employees of the Dnipro Customs who, before the full-scale russian invasion, "helped" a local company save tens of millions of hryvnias on methyl alcohol imports from russia.
The indictments were sent to court.
It was established that the officials stated in the documents that paint thinner was being imported into the customs territory of Ukraine instead of methyl alcohol. Through this scheme, the businessmen avoided paying excise tax.
Over 3 years of such "cooperation", the state budget of Ukraine lost almost UAH 50 million.
Three officials of the Dnipro Customs are accused of abuse of power and official position (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 6 years.
At the same time, civil lawsuits have been filed against all three officials to recover the full amount of money that the Ukrainian budget lost due to their actions.
The Dnipropetrovs'k Regional Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural guidance.
