SBI has completed investigation into former security officer who helped russians seize Artek children's camp in Crimea
The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a special pre-trial investigation into a former security officer who helped russians seize the Artek International Children's Centre in Crimea.
The indictment has been sent to court.
The man served in the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, and in 2014 he voluntarily defected to the enemy. He assisted in the transfer of the children's centre to the control of the occupation authorities.
For this, the traitor received a position in the illegally created " ministry of internal affairs" of the occupiers.
Later, the defendant was "promoted" and began serving in the so-called "rosgvardia". In particular, this force is involved in the systematic political persecution of Crimean residents who disagree with the policy of the Russian Federation, and participates in the violent dispersal of rallies and demonstrations.
Since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion, the traitor was among the first to carry out repressions and search for pro-Ukrainian citizens.
The former law enforcement officer is charged with high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article provides for a sentence of up to 15 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the proceedings.
