The SBI has completed a pre-trial investigation into two former law enforcement officers from Berdiansk who joined the so-called police after the occupiers seized the city.

The indictments have been sent to court.

After the beginning of the russian invasion, the defendants remained in the temporarily occupied resort town and began to voluntarily serve the enemy.

They received weapons, official cars, offices and other property captured by the occupiers.

Currently, the men are patrolling the towns and villages of the district, helping the occupation regime to imitate the exercise of power. They also campaign for obedience and collaboration with the enemy, as well as help search for patriotic Ukrainians.

The former law enforcement officers are accused of high treason under martial law (Article 111(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the case.
