The SBI detained a lieutenant colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine who leaked secret information to the enemy

The SBI employees in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) Internal Security exposed a lieutenant colonel of the SSU Zaporizzhya Regional Department on high treason. He was exposed and detained under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The SSU officer was secretly gathering information obtained during operational and investigative actions, as well as data containing state secrets, specifically checkpoint schemes in the region and other secret information. He took photos of documents with his phone and sent them to representatives of the aggressor country via a popular messenger and an e-mail address registered on a russian domain.

During urgent searches, the Security Service of Ukraine found mobile phones, SIM cards of russian operators, and money. Evidence of established ties with representatives of law enforcement and government agencies of russia was also found. Among them are close relatives of the traitor.

Currently, the SSU is preparing a notice of suspicion of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as a court petition to impose a measure of restraint in the form of detention without bail.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of up to life imprisonment.
