The SBI has prevented the murder of a businessman from Poltava region ordered by a local official (PHOTOS, VIDEO)
Under martial law, the SBI continues to actively protect citizens from criminal attacks. After all, despite russia's full-scale armed aggression, there are still crimes that require diligent and balanced work.
The SBI officers found out that the murder of a businessman from the Poltava region was planned, and started an active search for the perpetrators from the criminal circles.
In order to save the man's life and expose the organisers, a multi-stage special operation was launched using the Bureau's technical and intelligence capabilities.
According to preliminary information, a local official of one of the districts of the Poltava region had been in conflict with the businessman for a long time. In order to tame his opponent, the official decided to take radical action and started looking for a hitman to carry out the "order".
The official estimated the cost of the businessman's life at USD 5,000. The client planned to transfer the money for the hit in two parts. The first instalment was to be paid in December 2022, and the rest was to be paid after he was sure of the killer's work and had received photographs of the murdered man.
The SBI officers staged the murder and the client received photos with the 'corpse' and some of the victim's personal belongings.
The officer has now been charged with attempted murder for hire (Part 2 of Article 15, Clause 11 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The penalty under this article is life imprisonment.
The pre-trial investigation is under way. The question of the client's detention is being considered. Other possible accomplices are being identified.
The case is being supervised by the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office.
