The SBI has prevented sabotage at Kurakhivska TPP and seized a large cache of explosives

In the course of a special operation, the SBI agents prevented a sabotage at Kurakhivska TPP, which was being prepared by a former law enforcer from Donetsk region with his accomplice.

It was established that after the occupants seized a part of Donetsk region, an official of one of the region's law enforcement agencies started working for the enemy.

Supporting the idea of the "russian world", the offender planned to use explosives to damage the Kurakhivska TPP. He hid explosive devices and ammunition in advance in a specially equipped cache near the TPP, but on the territory controlled by Ukraine. The explosion at the "facility" was supposed to be executed by his accomplice, with whom he actively discussed sabotage plans, using social messengers.

The SBI established the fact of preparing a sabotage within the framework of the investigation of the proceedings on high treason against a former law enforcement officer who conducted filtration measures at one of the checkpoints of the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region. While working for the occupiers, he was checking cars and looking for people among drivers and passengers who belonged to law enforcement agencies of Ukraine or the Armed Forces of Ukraine and cooperated with the state authorities of Ukraine.

The SBI officers exposed his intentions to sabotage, established the location of the cache and prevented the terrorist attack.

The former security guard was served in absentia a notice of suspicion of high treason and preparation to commit sabotage (Part 2 Art. 111, Part 1 Art. 14, Part 2 Art. 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment.

The SBI is currently looking for the suspect's accomplice.
