SBI has prevented importation of 10 tonnes of smuggled Russian car parts worth over UAH 3 million to Ukraine and transferred them to the defence forces
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the Kyiv Customs prevented the importation of more than 10 tonnes of russian-made auto parts from the GAZ concern into Ukraine. According to preliminary data, the value of the spare parts is over UAH 3 million.
To bypass the sanctions, the representatives of the aggressor country planned to supply contraband products to Ukraine through third countries. According to the organisers' scheme, the goods were initially registered in the name of belarusian gasket companies and then sent to European companies that were supposed to officially export the products to Ukraine.
Law enforcers exposed the fraud during a customs clearance attempt at Kyiv Customs. During the inspection of the accompanying documents, it was found that the car parts were supplied under a contract with payments in russian rubles. The final recipient of the funds was a commercial entity with a bank account opened in the aggressor country.
The detected auto parts were seized and handed over to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine at the initiative of the SBI.
Thanks to this work of the Bureau, the vehicles of the State Border Guard Service, which were damaged during the military operations, will be repaired and will help to perform operational tasks to protect our country.
The goods of the russian manufacturer were seized in the framework of criminal proceedings on the fact of aiding the aggressor country (Part 2 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 7 years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural supervision.
