The SBI ensured the confiscation to the state of the assets of the former Minister of Internal Affairs Zakharchenko that worth over UAH 400 million

The High Anti-Corruption Court satisfied the claim of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, that was filed based on materials of the State Bureau of Investigation, on application of sanctions on former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vitaliy Zakharchenko.

By court order, six properties, including two apartments in Kyiv, corporate rights, and cash in bank accounts, were seized to the  state revenue. The total value of the confiscated property exceeds UAH 400 million.

The sanction applied is provided for in paragraph 1-1 of Part 1 of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine «On Sanctions» — as a measure aimed at preventing the use of assets of persons who pose a threat to the national security of Ukraine.

It should be noted that Vitaliy Zakharchenko is a defendant in a number of criminal proceedings investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation, many of which have already been filed to court.

In particular, he is charged with high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); creating a criminal organization and organizing serious crimes against participants in the Revolution of Dignity (Part 1 of Article 255, Part 3 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 365, Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); legalization of income obtained by criminal means (Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As part of these proceedings, the SBI investigators found and seized the property of the fugitive minister. The total value of the seized property is UAH 1.4 billion. The work on seizing the remaining property continues.

Vitaliy Zakharchenko has been placed on the international wanted list and is hiding in the russian federation.
