The SBI exposed a large-scale scheme of making money on tax evaders in a psychiatric hospital in Mykolaiv region. Monthly earnings from fake certificates exceeded one hundred thousand dollars
The State Bureau of Investigation continues to systematically uncover corruption schemes during mobilisation, bringing to justice representatives of military enlistment offices, law enforcement officers and doctors who try to make money from people liable for military service.
SBI officers uncovered a large-scale scheme to make money by issuing "fake" medical certificates of unfitness for military service at the Mykolaiv Regional Mental Health Centre.
According to the investigation, this "business" was organised by the director of the medical institution, involving subordinate doctors who produced the necessary certificates and a law enforcement officer who was responsible for recruiting clients.
Medical documents with fictitious mental illnesses, which later became the basis for deregistration in district military commissariats, cost USD 1,500.
The defendants issued over USD 100,000 worth of such fictitious documents every month.
SBI employees detained the law enforcement officer "red-handed" while transferring medical certificates and receiving money for them.
The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the director of the regional psychiatric dispensary and the law enforcement officer under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining an unlawful benefit by an official) is being decided. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an undue advantage by an official).
