The State Bureau of Investigation continues to work diligently to combat drug trafficking throughout the country. Law enforcement personnel are often implicated in the activities of such criminal organisations.

The SBI, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police, detained 9 drug dealers, including 4 law enforcers, in Dnipro during a large-scale special operation to counter drug trafficking.

It was established that a Dnipro resident organised a large criminal organisation that sold methamphetamine. He even involved his wife in the illegal business. This activity was "covered up" by 4 law enforcers of one of the regional departments of Dnipro region.

The drugs were sold around the clock on the premises of a car service station. A special room was set up there, where everyone could not only buy a dose, but also try out the purchased goods. The cost of this service was 750 hryvnias per dose.

According to preliminary data, the dealers earned more than UAH 1.5 million per month.

During the special operation, 35 searches were conducted. Draft records, mobile phones, laptops and already packaged packages of drugs were seized during searches. Nine people were detained, four of whom were law enforcement officers.

All the detainees were served a notice of suspicion of creating and participating in a criminal organisation, purchasing and selling drugs, organising a place for drug use (Art. 255, parts 1, 2, 3, Art. 255, Art. 27, parts 2, 3, 5, Art. 27, Art. 28, Art. 28, Art. 307, Art. 307, Art. 317, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the articles provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.

The investigation is ongoing, the drug supply channel is being established, and the issue of choosing a custody as a measure of restraint is being decided.
