SBI employees served in absentia a notice of suspicion of fraud to a judge of the Bryankivskyi district of Luhansk region, who misappropriated almost UAH 2 million of budget funds.

It was found that after the occupation of Brianka district, the judge was transferred to a court on the territory controlled by Ukraine. But he did not show up for his new job, instead he went to the russian federation. There, he obtained the citizenship of the aggressor country. At the same time, the judge was aware that after acquiring the citizenship of another country, his powers as a judge would be terminated. He hid this from the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine in order to continue receiving his judicial remuneration.

Over two years, the judge was illegally paid UAH 1 million 894,292.23 from the state budget.

The judge is suspected of fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The article provides for a sentence of up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.

Procedural supervision is provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
