The SBI uncovers another drug production and distribution channel with a monthly turnover of UAH 10 million (VIDEO)
The State Bureau of Investigation, together with other law enforcement agencies, continues to actively counter attempts by russian special services and the drug mafia to establish stable drug production and distribution channels throughout Ukraine.
The SBI agents, together with the National Police and the Military Law Enforcement Service, conducted a special operation in the Prykarpattia region to expose a group of drug traffickers. Its members were producing and distributing drugs, including in the frontline areas of the country. The traffickers even tried to find channels to sell their 'goods' among the Ukrainian military.
According to preliminary data, the monthly drug turnover was at least UAH 10 million.
The criminal group consisted of more than ten people.
The drugs were produced in clandestine laboratories. Couriers and mail were used to distribute the drugs.
Law enforcement officers documented numerous facts about the production and sale of amphetamine, ecstasy, hashish and marijuana.
The SBI conducted 26 authorised searches in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, seizing almost 4 kg of amphetamine, 1 kg of marijuana, other drugs and precursors that could be used to make at least 30,000 doses.
The value of the seized raw materials on the black market is at least UAH 5 million.
During the searches, officers also seized laboratory equipment, bank cards, mobile terminals, computer equipment and over UAH 300,000 in cash. A St George's ribbon was also found on one of the suspects.
Currently, three people have been detained and charged with production and sale of narcotic drugs (Part 2, 3 Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Investigations are ongoing. The confiscation of the suspects' property - cars, houses, etc. - will be initiated.
The Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Ivano-Frankivsk Special Prosecutor's Office for Military and Defence Affairs are supervising the case.
