The SBI has exposed the third drug lab specialising in amphetamine production in the Bukovyna region
The SBI uncovered another drug lab in Chernivtsi region, which produced amphetamine for sale throughout Ukraine.
The drug lab was located in a private house in the Dnistrovskyi district of Chernivtsi region. The two men manufactured amphetamine using both legal chemicals and substances purchased on the black market.
According to intelligence, five other people were involved in the sale of the product. The amphetamine was sold during personal meetings and via postal services throughout Ukraine. The dealers earned hundreds of thousands of hryvnias a month.
The SBI detained one of the offenders red-handed during another sale of the drug.
The detainee and his accomplice were served a notice of suspicion of illegal production, storage and sale of psychotropic substances in large quantities (Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the full range of involved persons and channels of drug distribution are being established.
During the searches, the officers seized various equipment, including laboratory glass and chemical utensils, as well as 10 litres of amphetamine manufacturing reagents.
Procedural supervision is provided by the Chernivtsi Specialised Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defence Sphere of the Western Region.
Earlier in Chernivtsi, the SBI shut down an underground drug lab producing amphetamine with a turnover of millions of dollars.
