The State Bureau of Investigations continues its substantial work on combating corruption at the customs. After all, such activities in wartime are not only morally unacceptable, but also cause significant economic damage to the state.

The SBI employees, based on the Security Service materials, exposed the management of the "Stolychnyi" customs post of the Kyiv Customs of the State Customs Service of Ukraine. The officials systematically demanded bribes from foreign economic entities importing consumer goods to Ukraine.

It was established that for unimpeded customs clearance of goods and faster customs clearance procedures, customs dealers took USD 300 per container. In just a short period of time, the investigation documented the facts of receiving bribes worth several thousand US dollars.

The SBI employees in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine detained the offenders while receiving another part of the bribe from one of the importers.

The head of the customs post "Stolychnyi" of the Kyiv Customs and the acting deputy head of the customs post "Stolychnyi" were reported about the suspicion. The customs officers are suspected of extortion and receipt of undue advantage (Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years, with confiscation of property.

Procedural control is carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office.

The work is ongoing. Recall that on November 16, the State Bureau of Investigation exposed the head of the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs office and his deputy on systematic extortion of bribes from auto transporters.
