The State Bureau of Investigation is engaged in a large-scale operation to expose and bring to justice traitors and collaborators on the Ukrainian territory liberated from the occupiers. Numerous cases of crimes committed by officials who voluntarily sided with the invaders have been documented.

In the liberated areas, the SBI employees are checking all state institutions to identify officials who remained in office and and assisted the occupiers in "restoring" russian order.

For example, the SBI agents served a notice of suspicion on another employee of the Kupiansk State Tax Inspectorate who had defected to the enemy. This is the sixth traitor from the local tax office to be arrested by the SBI for treason.

The woman, like other traitors, voluntarily agreed to work for the occupiers in an illegal tax office. She was put in charge of replenishing the occupation's budget after being interviewed and approved. In reality, the collaborators were collecting tribute from the local population and calling it taxes. The tax officer also recruited other former colleagues to work for the occupation authorities. She even campaigned for them at their homes.

After Kupiansk was liberated, the traitor fled with the occupiers.

The tax officer was charged in absentia with high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The penalty under this article is life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The case is being supervised by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The SBI agents had previously exposed five other Kupiansk tax office employees. They also assisted the occupiers in collecting tribute from the locals. Three of them have been arrested and are being held in custody. And these are not the last traitors in this institution who have deliberately sided with the enemy. Their true identities will be revealed.

In general, since the beginning of russia's full-scale armed attack, the SBI has been investigating more than 100 such criminal proceedings in Kharkiv region alone.

Twenty traitors have already been detained. 52 people have been notified of suspicion. 16 indictments have been sent to court.

The SBI emphasizes that treason under martial law will be punishable by severe and inevitable consequences, and short-term benefits from cooperation with the enemy will turn into shameful and long imprisonment
