SBI conducted searches of people's deputy who had forged documents while abroad

03/08/2023

SBI employees in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine are conducting searches of a Ukrainian deputy who went abroad during the war, allegedly under the pretext of accompanying his father for medical treatment.

The deputy received permission to leave Ukraine under this pretext and left the country on his own. Meanwhile, the father travelled abroad on his own, unaccompanied by his son, and then returned to Ukraine much earlier than the MP.

The SBI is investigating how the Ukrainian MP was able to sign and submit official documents, including to government agencies, during his stay abroad, which may indicate that they were forged.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out on the facts of forgery and unauthorised actions with information processed in automated systems committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (Part 1 of Article 366, Part 3 of Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 6 years.

The investigation is ongoing.

Procedural supervision is provided by the Prosecutor General's Office.
