The SBI has notified eight former law enforcers from Melitopol who are hunting Ukrainian partisans of suspicion
Employees of the SBI served notices of suspicion in absentia to eight former law enforcement officers from Melitopol. They defected to the enemy and are now searching for Ukrainian partisans and seizing weapons in the temporarily occupied territories.
When the enemy came to Melitopol, these law enforcement officers refused to comply with the command to relocate, betrayed their oath and voluntarily agreed to serve the occupation regime.
The russians appointed them to a fake law enforcement agency, the Melitopol City and Melitopol District Police Department.
To prevent resistance from the population in the occupied territories, the defendants help the invaders search for Ukrainian partisans, former military personnel, including members of the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation, and other patriotic citizens.
They also patrol the streets of the city, stand at checkpoints, seize hunting weapons from the population, and participate in the occupiers' filtration activities.
The defendants were served in absentia with a notice of suspicion of high treason under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Procedural supervision is carried out by Zaporizzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
