SBI announced suspicion to putin's oligarch Giner, who built thermal power plants in Crimea and supplied ammunition to the russian army
The SBI, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine, served a notice of suspicion to putin's oligarch, President of CSKA FC Yevgeny Giner, who built two thermal power plants in occupied Crimea and supplied ammunition to the russian army.
It has been established that in 2019, the suspect, through a company controlled by him, built the Balaklava (Sevastopol CCGT) and Tavriya TPP (Simferopol CCGT) in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
These power plants were connected to the power grids of the russian federation. As a result, the suspect harmed Ukraine's energy security and contributed to Crimea's dependence on russia in the energy sector.
According to the investigation, after 24 February 2022 Giner, as the owner of the russian JSC Koshkin Design Bureau of Automated Lines, instructed the company’s management to ensure an uninterrupted supply of cartridges to the occupiers.
He ensured the supply of a significant amount of ammunition to russian troops for the entire period of armed aggression against Ukraine.
Giner was served in absentia a notice of suspicion of aiding and abetting actions aimed at changing the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine, which led to grave consequences by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Procedural supervision is carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office.
It should be reminded, that the defendant, through his related parties in Ukraine, is one of the beneficiaries of the VS Energy International Ukraine group of companies and owns the corporate rights of Kirovohradoblenergo, Rivneoblenergo, Chernivtsioblenergo, Zhytomyroblenergo, Khersonoblenergo and Sevastopolenergo., as well as hotels, steel plants and shopping centres.
The High Anti-Corruption Court is currently considering a lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine based on the State Bureau of Investigation's materials to seize these assets for the benefit of the state.
Earlier, at the request of the SBI, the court ordered the seizure of seven hotels and two shopping centres owned by citizens of the aggressor state.
In February of this year, based on the SBI's materials, the court seized a controlling stake (88.9%) in a banking institution beneficially owned by Yevgeny Giner.
