The State Bureau of Investigation systematically and actively counteracts customs abuses that cause underpayment of tens of billions of hryvnias to the budget of Ukraine. Every corrupt official should remember about the inevitability of justice.

The SBI employees served a notice of suspicion to a senior state inspector of the "Ukrposhta" customs post of Kyiv Customs, who took bribes during customs clearance of valuable orders from foreign online stores.

The official offered "customers", who ordered expensive goods in foreign stores, the assistance in reducing customs duties during parcel clearance. The customs officer charged for such services 7% of the value of the goods. Also for this amount he promised not to create unnecessary obstacles and to speed up customs procedures.

Following the advice of the official, customers of the goods indicated in the electronic declaration the understated value of postal parcels, thereby reducing customs payments.

It was documented that only one "client" has paid more than 60 thousand hryvnias for the relevant "services".

The losses to the state budget will be established during the investigation.

The state inspector of the customs post "Ukrposhta" is suspected of receiving undue advantage (Part 1 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 4 years.

Procedural guidance is provided by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
